A long throw-in set piece goal was the lone tally for MNUFC2 on Friday night at Providence Park, equalizing the match at 1-1. In the shootout from the mark that followed the regulation draw, the Twos weren’t able to keep pace with Timbers2, falling 5-3 and leaving Portland with just one point.

11’ - Timbers2 created the first dangerous scoring chance of the evening when a through ball made its way successfully into the MNUFC2 box. Blake Pope took possession and quickly fired off a shot, but Minnesota United defender Kipp Keller made a sliding block.

20’ (0-1) - The home side took the lead after Noah Santos’ one-touch strike from inside the MNUFC2 box hit the back of the net. Santos was fed the ball by midfielder Victor Enriquez who had driven deep into the box before turning and finding Santos.

32’ - MNUFC2 created its first scoring opportunity off a set piece play. Defender Kieran Chandler’s service into the Timbers2 penalty area nearly connected with MNUFC forward Loïc Mesanvi, who was crashing towards the net.

45’ (1-1) - The Twos equalized the match on a set-piece service into T2’s box. MNUFC defender Devin Padelford’s long throw-in reached the center of the six-yard box, bouncing into possession of midfielder Kage Romanshyn Jr. He took a close-range shot that was saved, but off the rebound, forward Luke Hille’s volley found the back of the net.

57’ - Minnesota twice had shots blocked from inside the Timbers2 penalty area. First, New Zealand youth international Troy Putt gained possession, but saw his strike blocked by the home defense. From the rebound, midfielder Alpha Kabia made an attempt at a shot, but was also blocked.

66’ - Goalkeeper Kayne Rizvanovich left the game due to an apparent lower body injury, with MNUFC Academy goalkeeper Kai Zeruhn subbing into the match as his replacement.

88’ - Zeruhn made his first big save of the night, deep into the match, after service into the Twos’ box connected with Malcolm Johnston, forcing the young goalkeeper to make a leaping save to keep the score level at one apiece.
