All is right again; the Loons are back in the winner’s column. Minnesota United picked up their second consecutive home win by putting on a 3-0 clinic against St. Louis CITY, earning both standout performers Tani Oluwaseyi and Joaquín Pereyra a spot in TOTM 14. This is the third honor of the season for both players, who combined magnificently on Saturday to help one another get on the scoresheet.

The start of Joaquín Pereyra’s first full season in Minnesota has been nothing short of a revelation, as the dynamic playmaker has been able to showcase his incredible passing range, ability to connect his teammates, and now, a penchant for getting involved in goals. He’s been contributing all season long, racking up seven assists between set-piece delivery and creativity from open play. He’s finally joined the scoring column in recent weeks, recording both of his two goals this year in the Loons’ last four games. Pereyra’s been on an upward trajectory all season, and he doesn’t seem like he’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

Playing just in front of Pereyra, Tani Oluwaseyi rediscovered his scoring form in fantastic fashion, tucking away an audacious backheel shot to open the scoring against CITY. He may have done a double celebration in the aftermath, but who can fault the guy? It’s not every day that you score such a cheeky goal. After getting a strike of his own, he turned into the provider later in the match, laying off a wonderful setup pass for Pereyra to run onto in the 62nd minute to double the lead.

The Loons have now scored at least three goals in three of their last four league games while keeping two clean sheets in the same span. With both the attacking and defending departments operating at peak performance and the likes of Oluwaseyi and Pereyra hitting a rich vein of form, the Black and Blue will be looking forward to a challenging group of fixtures in the weeks to come. Well done this weekend, Joaquín and Tani; let’s keep the goals coming!
