For the third time in the 2024 MLS season, Minnesota Unitedās very own Robin Lod has earned a spot on the Team of the Matchday. Lod has now appeared in TOTM 2, 10, and 15, and the way heās playing, it feels like weāll be adding a few more appearances before the seasonās over.
Despite coming off the bench in the 56th minute on Saturday, Lodās contributions against Portland were crucial and exceptional. The Finnish midfielder provided the creative spark in the middle of the pitch that the Loons had been missing, making the attack far more dynamic and connecting the field with his next-level vision. His equalizing goal in the 65th minute was the first example of his quality, while his hockey assist on the game-winner showcased his ability to pull the strings and take over a game.
Anyone whoās watched MNUFC this season wonāt be surprised to see Lodās continued success. With four goals and nine assists in 781 minutes, heās averaging a goal contribution every 60 minutes. His goal this weekend made him the clubās all-time leading goal scorer in all competitionsābreaking his tie with Darwin Quintero and Emanuel Reynosoāand given his form, he seems ready to extend his tally.
Take a bow, Robin; it's about time you got your flowers. Weāve always known what a special player you are around here. Now, it seems the whole league is finally taking notice.
