Special Olympics Minnesota Polar Plunge

Minnesota United plunged its way into Saturday with Special Olympics Minnesota on Riley Lake in Eden Prairie, Minnesota for the Polar Plunge. With over 600 participants, the event raised $112,517, despite the chilling 38 °F temperature on the lake.

Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications John Guagliano represented the Loons at the Plunge. Guagliano was joined by representatives from the Timberwolves, Wild, Twins and Vikings, along with Fox Sports North Senior Vice President & General Manager, Mike Dimond.

“I never jumped in a frozen lake back in New Jersey growing up,” said Guagliano. “At least not on purpose. But Special Olympics is a great cause that we work with regularly on projects like the Unified Team. Plus I couldn’t let the Wolves, Twins, Wild and Vikings have all the fun.”

This is a part of Minnesota United’s larger partnership with Special Olympics Minnesota that includes the MNUFC Unified team and other programming activities. The next partnership event with Special Olympics Minnesota is the Unified tryouts with Wayzata High School on March 29 at the National Sports Center.
