Calling all Loons — literally! In partnership with our friends at the National Loon Center, Minnesota United is excited to host an official Loon Call Contest this fall. It’s time to channel your very best bird-calling for a chance at the sought-after title of Loon Call Champion. (How’s that for a LinkedIn headline?)

The preliminary round of the competition will take place in two stages, where participants can show up — no registration needed — and give their most convincing loon call for a chance to participate in the finals at a Minnesota United match. 

Three finalists will be selected from a group of participants on Saturday, September 26, at 3:00 p.m. in Crosslake Town Square. One finalist will be selected from another regional round on Wednesday, October 14, at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park during halftime of the MNUFC vs. Colorado Rapids watch party. 

Each finalist will receive a signed MNUFC soccer ball and four (4) tickets to MNUFC’s October 28 game against Sporting Kansas City, where they will be invited to perform their loon call at halftime before a panel of judges. From there, the panel will select a single winner to crown the ultimate champion. Lifetime bragging rights and admiration from bird-callers everywhere are on the line, friends, so what are you waiting for? Get practicing.
